Is Thing on...? Oh, Hey there. New to the blogging universe & I'm here to explore the possibilities herein. It may take a while for this whole process to come into focus as the content may vary as I find my bearings on this thing...So,
Howdy! My name is Sean. My wife calls me "JuneBug". I grew up in Nashville, TN and moved to Atlanta ,GA in 1992.
Currently, I work at a construction project consulting firm (PFI-Project Facilitators) as an AutoCad operator, drafting project schedules for large/small scale-long term building efforts.
Of interest, I've always enjoyed supporting local music scenes and I been playing guitar for 30 years. In my youth [Nashville], I helped start an eclectic "Punk" band "Rednecks x In x Pain" with my High School[BFF]and 2 other groovy cats that evidently had nothing better to do than hang-out with me & my misguided ego while we all spent a couple(+) years procuring & pursuing creative ways to express our youthful energies... "Google" the name of the band and you'll find a few scattered links that will give anyone that is remotely curious a heaping dose of that...Onward.
When I moved to Atlanta in 92', I continued to pursue my "Guitar Dreams" while I worked as an entry-level land surveyor-[Rodman] growing in that particular field to establish a foundation of skill that continues to contribute to my ability to maintain an interesting job that I honestly enjoy. I'm good at what I do in the workplace and I'm blessed to have an opportunity to earn an honest $ in this economy.
Nuff' said about that...
Back to who's this guy...
I eventually started another band with my brother called "Cacklefruit" that was more or less an experiment within itself to emmulate our "Jam" band heroes of the day, heavily influenced by "FZ", Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers, Zep...You got the idea. We had alot of fun and mainly played out as much and as far as I could get us by using the "Do-it-Youself" or don't experiences that I gained from our old Bass player in [RxIxP] back in Ye' Olde Nashville (Very Smart, Very Organized...That One. Thx, Don).
We played (CKLFRT) up until we had come to the crossroads that "all" we could do was "Grab a chord & stir it" to the hypnotic back-drop of tribalistic drum sequences and that was just not very effective at all when it came to writing songs that weren't 18 minutes long and that your average music client had the patience to endure. I mean, We were definately in the wheel house for playing festivals in the desert, but to some poor schmuck that just wanted to sip a few longnecks after a long 10 hour day of working on transmissions...Needless to say that our passion for the epic art of improvisational tandems was not helping this guy get laid and in effect, caused the eventual demise of that chapter in personal music history.
Although, that whole experience prompted us to enroll into the Atlanta Institute of Music in which I think ultimately sealed the final fate of the "psychedelic Brotherhood", but opened up a much more realistic understanding of what music "Is" or "Can" be about and helped me realize that although I had paid alot of grunt dues through my years of banging around on the proverbial "Axe"...In reality, I had no clue what being a "conscientious" musician was about. That's not to say that a person "Has" to be formally trained to be creative, entertaining or even successful, but for "Me" it allowed me to get closure and gain the insight to get honest about myself and my playing. It was an education that helped put alot of things into perspective for me.
So when I graduated from A.I.M- Atanta Institute of Music in 2002, I started teaching private lessons and "Thinking" about the guitar as well "feeling" the guitar. Of late, I share an Acoustic duo gig with my brother Eric called "PanHandle Slim", we play @ local pubs and back porches in and around NE Atlanta whenever it's convenient and fits the itinerary. I have hopes to get an electric project off the ground again one day, but for now, It's kind of cool just knowing that my kids have a Dad that can play the "Guitar".
Right now, I'm concentrating on being a good husband and great Dad to my kids.
Heather L. Green is my awsome wife and Best Friend. She is an ER nurse and an all around awsome individual that I'm often amazed and indebted to for choosing my brand of "Crazy" over all others and basicaaly entering into a whole new chapter of life as we navigate our way through Parenthood. Clueless and sometimes Helpless, We're doing it together and that's an amazing place to be in this age of uncertainty.
Our 1st sweet little Love Monkey's named "Daisy" (3++), Our 2nd little fireball of "New" crazy is named "Jack", about to turn 2.
In a nutshell, I'm all about hard work and accomplishment. Sometimes I whine that "I'm the guy that never wins the lottery", but when i look around at my world and see it filled with so much love, it occurs to me that I already have. I am truly blessed beyond belief.
In upcoming post, I'll share quips about whatever I'm thinking that day or sometimes it may become more inspired and appear as a musicians forum or something resembling one...Or it could just lie dormant for months. See you next time.
